Random, Random, Random

Hi old friends! It's been awhile, but I'm back, however, I'm back with zero pictures.
I apologize. I know how you all look forward to my perfect, artistic and professional photos.

Anyway, this weekend was a bust, well.... sort of..... here is a quick rundown:
  • Friday - worked day job 9-2:30, worked new night job 3:30 - 8:30
  • Saturday - ran 12 miles with running group, worked new night job 3:30 - 10:00
  • Sunday - 4 mile recovery run, pool with friend (k.Haar)
Conclusion - running is the best, working a second job is not.
So, after lots of justification and help forced out of the roommate, I decided that 2 jobs is a no-go. I tried it, I made probably like 60 bucks over the weekend and now I'm done...time to get serious about where I'm going with my life, or about the overflowing laundry basket I have in my closet....

Other then that life has been pretty static.
I still am loving my job at abercrombie... ha
I'm still training for the full with a semi-sore ankle.
and I'm going on 7 days straight of wearing the same jean shorts to work... body spray really can do wonders :)

But despite all the ho-hum junk above... I've got a pretty exciting weekend to look forward to:
  • my little sister turns 21 at midnight Saturday
  • my roommate's sister is getting married on Saturday
  • I get to harass my roommate because of her twitching eye all week.
  • oh, and I get to squeeze in a 13 mile run in between a 21st birthday and a wedding, ha!
Sorry for the lame recap post... exciting posts to come. I promise. Even one about blind dates...!

Happy Tuesday!

Speed Work and Heat

I heard on the Today Show this morning that over half of the country is in this "heat dome" and subsequently are in heat warnings and heat advisories... so, since probably half of my 12 followers are experiencing these awful temperatures and humidity, I'll just assume you all know what I'm talking about when I say, it is hot.

Since my marathon training schedule doesn't know when to schedule runs around the heat, I was due for 5 miles with 8 x 1 minute fartleks with 1 minute rest in between. After leaning from Tuesday's run... I made it a goal to get up before the sun and do my run before the heat got too bad:

Yes, this is me standing on the toliet in the downstairs bathroom. I was too lazy to walk the 20 seconds upstairs to a full length mirror, but anyway, here is me all cool and fresh!

And here is me after my run, all hot and sweaty!
It was hot! I was already dripping sweat into my mile warm up and I actually followed through with the speedwork - which is surprising because I haaate strongly dislike speedwork.

After cooling off with a cold shower and throwing my hair up in what I like to consider a pony tail, (lets be real, it is way too humid to even attempt to straighten hair, let alone  actually keep it straight!) I made a delicious, easy breakfast of plain yogurt, banana, blueberries, kashi, and great grains cereal:

And I managed to snap a picture of my new friend: Mr. Roly Poly.
He was a little camera shy.
Stay Hydrated!

Blaming the Roomie

Yep. I'm totally and rightfully blaming my roommate for what I had for dinner.
Now I know she hasn't been home since this morning, and I really haven't talked to her since I left for work.... but I'm still 100% placing blame on her.

I had Jason's Deli salad bar for dinner:
I went to a 6:00 spinning class right next door, and usually I mentally decide whats for dinner during my 45 minute sweat session...but I ended the class fruitless.
Then I remembered my roommate mentioned just 2 days ago about how it would be so easy to stop in after working out and get the salad bar.

Enter my lack of resistance to paying 7 dollars for dinner.
BUT, it was good and I'm content now so I guess I can stop blaming roommate for putting this in my head and maybe thank her?

Eh, we'll see :)

Have a good evening!

Tuesday, July 19, 2011

Well, I'm still not 100% sure if there is a law against running in a heat advisory, but it sure as hell is NOT a good idea!
So ... I decided to run outside... in the heat.... and the humidity.... with 93 degree breezes.... I think had I known I would be forced to dump water down my shirt every stoplight like some size 0-32C-6'2'' babe at a wet t-shirt contest.. I would have vetoed the running outside idea. But it's too late now and I can happily mark off 5 miles on my marathon training schedule....awesome, awesome!

Lets hope it cools down.... just a tad, or lets hope for no early morning thunderstorms!

Sleepy,

Darn Weather!

My planned morning run was interrupted by Mother Nature.
These pictures were taken last night, but I'm sure if there was daylight this morning, the sky would have looked the same.

Darn it! Now I either have to run 5 miles on a dumb treadmill or run 5 miles in the sweltering heat this afternoon...there's no law against running in a heat advisory is there? In heat indexes that exceed 100 degrees??

What do you guys do? Run in heat and humidity or grin and bear it and drag yourself on a treadmill in air conditioning?!

Keep Cool,

Weekend in Photos

Conclusions:

  • Smoothies are totally necessary after 11 mile runs
  • I am a bad-ass at loading the dishwasher
  • Pools and ice cream are my favorite things in the world.
  • Watermelon is a lifesaver after a night out
  • I need to slow the drinking down.
Already Monday :(

Happy Friday!

Hello fellow blog readers!
Remember way back when I wrote this post, and I said how much I absolutely hate Fridays?! Well things have changed.
The reason why I hated Fridays so much was because of an all day tedious and painstaking work task that haunted me every Friday. But since then, people here finally got their priorities straight  and decided to do a computer upload instead of me entering in tiny little numbers for every article of clothing, for all brands, in every flagship store across the world.... great for increased productivity, but not great for my job security...but let me tell you, it would not be the end of the world if I was no longer needed.... :)

Anyway, I celebrated the day of no presentations with my favorite breakfast ever:
Yogurt bowl with plain yogurt, banana, raspberries, cereal and peanut butter drizzle. Yum! I figure this bowl is around 400 calories... the day before a long run I try to eat at least 2,000 healthy calories, so this was a great step in reaching that total :)
What can I say: I love to eat!

On a much sadder note:
Tonight is the series finale of Friday Night Lights.
I started watching it after the first season in hopes of having something in common with my mom and sister, but when that failed, it became my sanctuary and my vacation from my obbessions. Instead of dwelling on how many calories were in a Mike n'Ike and how I was going to avoid hamburgers for dinner, I sat at my computer and watched Friday Night Lights. Sure, it wasn't the most social thing to do, and it probably added to my fantasy world I live in, but in a way, it saved me from going completely insane.
It is an awesome show, and I will miss it dearly.

Almost the weekend!

It's The Little Things in Life...

....that make me smile.

Like when my roommate's mom gets worried about me going on blind dates and wants roommate's boyfriend to spy on me.

Like corn on the cob in the summer.
Like reading blogs posts by the people I love and seeing how happy and grateful they are:

Like back patio flowers:
Like living in Columbus and feeling like I have family here.
-thank you Gilberts-

Like a simple dinner:
grilled ham, cheese, avocado and tomato sandwich.
Like when I get comments on my blog posts....

haha, just kidding!

Have a good Thursday!

Productive. Oh Yeah.

Meriam Webster's take on the word productive: [pruh-duhk-tiv] -  yielding results, benefits, or profits, yielding or devoted to the satisfaction of wants or the creation of utilities

Erin's take on the word productive: MY DAY TODAY!!

It all started with a casual 6:30 wake up time, some coffee and blog reading.
It carried onward with an 8:00 teeth cleaning. No cavities mom!!!
I came home and relaxed for a tad.... I had the day off, no sense in not using it for some relaxation, right? :)
Around 10:00 I headed out for a 5 mile training run, and holy heat was it hot! I might have lost 2 pounds due solely to sweat lost, but no worries, I gained it back fairly quickly by eating 3 pounds of peanut butter while making lunch:
(yes, the 3 LBS of PB were consumed before eating my actual peanut butter toast)
After my colorful and nutritional, and obviously tasty lunch, I got all dolled up and headed out for a 1:30 interview. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I get the job. I'm not at all a fan of my current job and this job would be less than 2 miles from my apartment.... plus a FREE gym membership.
It will be a HUGE plus if I get the job... but I'm not going to fret if I'm still working at Abercrombie and Fitch next month... however, if in a year from now I'm still walking into clouds of cologne when I walk into work, while wearing my slick jeggings, I might start to panic.

After a quick (and hopefully successful) interview, I headed on home to where I magically found myself calling an Auto Repair shop to look into getting my car and it's annoying check engine reminder checked out... crazy right!??
I booked an appointment for tomorrow and may have followed up with a little hokey pokey dance in honor of my amazing, productive day.
But wait guys.
There is more.
I then proceeded to head out AGAIN into the sweltering heat, and managed to apply for a part time job AND go to Target and buy a new blowdryer.... mine finally called it quits a few weeks ago and I'm getting sick of putting my roommate's socks on for her every morning in return for using her hair heat.
After some additional lounging, I rolled over to the kitchen and made same dinner.
This picture is purely just evidence to show my mom that I'm eating meat and not living off of veggies burgers and cheese:
I even consider my dinner productive, you know, since I cleaned out the refrigerator a tad by using up the last of my chicken and the rest of some lettuce.

So now here I am, being slightly productive by blogging and eating ice cream? Sure, just for the record, I'm getting up right now, well, as soon as I press publish and I'm watering flowers and going up to read....ahhhh who is this girl?!

Sleep Productive,

A Polar Opposite Weekend

I woke up Saturday morning, met my running group, ran 10 miles, stopped at TJ Max and got this:
for 10 dollars!
Awesome deal, right?!

Then,
I woke up Sunday morning to this:
10:00am post slumber party.
Better yet - 10:00am post bachelorette party.

The evening started off rather classy:
With champagne toast, Olive Garden dinner, cupcake decorating for dessert and a pretty looking drink with a trashing sounding name:
Don't let the ingredients fool you... it was very tasty, and very potent!
Later into the evening, the bride-to-be got the privelage of choosing which bar was first on the list, by reaching into a pink furry pouch and choosing a piece of paper with the mystery location - Brothers, which if any of you are from Columbus or familiar with this bar, you can see why this was so funny.
So we all left to go downtown, but not before some last minute college beer chugging and people scrambling to grab purses, once the cabs arrived.

Once downtown, typical Bachelorette activities commenced:
Dancing:
Jackie... the sans-penis decor Bachelorette
pictures were taken:
really tasty (ha!) dollar shots were consumed:
more dancing took place:
as did pictures:
Permanent marker tattoos were given:
more unnecessary dollar shots were consumed:
which led to more pictures being taken:
and inevitably more dancing:

and inevitably a not so productive Sunday... you can ask the bachelorette... I'm not sure if she saw daylight yesterday... but it just shows how much fun she had the night before :)

I realize I am missing lot of awesome pictures throughout the evening... the food, the cupcakes, the gift opening and the life-size cut-out of Justin Bieber... but I figure since I'd be stealing and posting the same pictures, ya'll can check them out on this blog.

It was a fun night.
But I am once again reminded why I don't do this every weekend :)

Still tired,

Pictureless

Hi Guys Gals!

Well, I think my funk has passed... well, at least for now... ask me again at 4:00 after I have been sitting here all day at my "desk" doing absolutely nothing, and I'm sure I'll have a whole different mindset.
But, since I'm trying out this whole "lets be positive" hoopla, I shall move forward... well I guess backwards (?) to a recap of my morning:
  • 4:55 am - alarm goes off
  • 5:10 am - realize my alarm went off and jump outta bed
  • 5:18 am - head out the door for 5 mile run
  • 5:18 - 5:28 - warm up
  • 5:28 - 5:48 - tempo speed
  • 5:48 - 6:04 - normal pace
  • 6:05 am - walk in door and chug water
  • 6:08 am - take half shower, make lunch, dress, makeup
  • 7:10 am - make most delicious smoothie ever (pb, yogurt and banana)
  • 7:20 am - leave apartment
  • 7:30 am - ankle appointment
  • 8:45 am - arrive at work
  • 9:30 am - job search
  • now - blogging.... yeah, my job is rreeal important :)
All in all it was a good morning.
I got my run in while it was still bearable outside.
I managed to look decent with no shower
I made a delicious smoothie.
Got my ankle worked on... it's more awollen than usual... buuut nothing was said about no running :) muhahaha (this is my evil laugh)
I got called back for a job interview, yay! (good thing no one at work cares an ounce about my life and they don't read or know I have a blog)

Here's hoping my boredom at work doesn't kill this mood I've got goin on....

Peace and Chocolate,

In a Funky Funk

Yep. I said it. I am in a funk.

Nothing specific. Just,
you know,
in a
funk.

If I had to write a nasty note to my funk,
it would go something like this:

At least I have 5 miles in the morning to look forward to... :)
