THE ZOO

If any of my friends are reading this, I’m sure they will immediately question the title of this post, and assuming that they were to continue reading, they probably would expect a post about how much I despise the zoo, or something close to that nature.

While they do have good evidence to think this way, I am going to prove them wrong, and write about how much I enjoyed the zoo. However, keep in mind that I just used the word “enjoyed,” and this will, by no means, be a regular activity that I will partake in more than once a year.

But now that we have things straightened out and explained… on to my day at the zoo.
Side Note: the girl in the following story (and picture below) is named Minnesota. Her real birth name is Jamie Lee Woods (not after the porn star). She was born in Minnesota, hence the nickname, and went to Capital University in Columbus, OH, where we met and became best friends. She moved back home after college, as did a lot of people including myself, and finally came down to visit the great state of Ohio back in April…

When I found out my best friend Minn was coming to Ohio and staying with my family and me in Cincinnati, I realized that I would have to find things to do, and being that I don’t have many, well any friends down here, it was going to be a challenge. So taking into consideration her likes and dislikes, I knew that Kings Island and canoeing were out; but shopping, desserts and the zoo would for sure be accepted with a smile. Although she was surprised with my proposed plans, she was very excited and ready to shop, eat and explore The Cincinnati Zoo.

We went on a nice, sunny and temperature-friendly Monday afternoon, Beforehand, we grabbed a quick and healthy lunch at a nearby outdoor café. I felt very urban - nothing like I live West Chester with my parents. We then proceeded onto the zoo… which, I will say, it was not that bad, in fact, I may have enjoyed myself. We saw giraffes, a male elephant, and we even pet a snake! We saw lions, white tigers (unique to the Cincinnati Zoo) and all sorts of animals I don’t see in my backyard. We also saw several zebras and it occurred to me that I have never seen a zebra before – their kind of neat! I love the stripes on their coats – zebra accessories here I come!

So readers, there you go… you just witnessed my first, and most likely my last, positive post about the zoo. Maybe I realized that looking at exotic animals actually can be fascinating, or maybe the fact that I wasn’t stuck in front of a computer all day made my day at the zoo tolerable, but I think it really came down to me being able to hang out with my best friend all day!

Hope you enjoyed my yearly zoo visit... miss you mumsy!
